This is another place in Shanghai you must visit, this place called "Shanghai Suburb Water Village". You can visit for half day - aprox. 4 hours 30 minutes.
You can start your tour at the oldest and most well protected water village named Zhu Jia Jiao, located about 16 miles west of downtown Shanghai.
Here you will touch and get a feel for a 400 year old water village with Small Canals, rivers, the big Dian Shan Lake and numerous small shops in which you can practice your bartering skills. After two hours sightseeing there, and on the way back, you can stop at silk mill to experience the South China real silk making procedure.
